Good Evening Clinton! Just a quick reminder that our Open House is tomorrow from 4-6. Please be sure to stop by my table before going into the building. I will have a gift for you, as well as free and reduced lunch forms to fill out. We are entering everyone into a raffle for an Android tablet just for filling out these forms. We have 10 of these devices to give away, so don't miss your chance! These forms also help with our district subsidy, so we would truly welcome and appreciate your support! I look forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon. Take care and have a great evening!
Hello Clinton Families! We had a fantastic first day! The students and staff were certainly ready for the year to begin. Please bear with us as we may need to adjust start and end times according to the bus schedule. I will be waiting at least until after the Labor Day week to make any changes, to be sure the times are correct after the Kindergarten and PreK students join us. Enjoy your evening! Take care
Good Morning Clinton! The bus garage is trying to put together lists for the Alfond Youth Program as well as other daycares in the area. If your child is attending the Alfond and/or another daycare, please call the bus garage to notify them so we have those plans in place for tomorrow's opening day! The number for the bus garage is 453-4230. Thanks and take care!
Hello Clinton! Just a quick note to let you know that I have sent out a letter to all families about the opening of the school year. Please look for that, along with a letter from your child's teacher, to come home soon. I can't wait to see the smiling faces on all of our kiddos (Grades 1-6) as they enter the building on Wednesday, August 31st, for their first day of the 2022-2023 school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to your child's teacher or call the office. Mrs. Crommett is available to help you. Enjoy the last few days of summer vacation and take care!
Good Afternoon Clinton! I am excited to announce that our summer meal distribution will change a bit starting on TUESDAY, JULY 19th. Breakfast AND lunch will be served from 10:30-11:15, Monday through Friday. PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE IN TIME AS IT WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVED UNTIL NOON. Your children are more than welcome to sit and eat here at school, but we will also be offering the "grab and go" option we have had in the past. If you have any questions, please call Heather Drew-Clark, the manager in charge of the Clinton site, at 238-1119. Enjoy the weekend - it's going to be BEAUTIFUL!!
Mrs. Lovley's First Grade students earned 100 points EACH in order to ride a fire truck. This is part of our school wide PBIS system in which students receive points for being accountable, respectful, kind and safe. Thank you to the Clinton FD and to Firefighter Anthony Barton for being their chauffeur today!
This Friday, April 29th is "Dress Up as Who You Would Like to Be!" day. Your child can dress as a staff member, a parent, as whatever they would like to be/do when they get older, etc. Let's get creative!
Student-led conferences are coming your way! On April 13th and 14th, your child will be able to share with you the amazing things they have been doing this year IN PERSON!! Please join them for a tour of the school and their classroom, while they show you their academic work they have put together with the help of their teachers. It is super exciting that we are able to welcome you into the school IN PERSON to do this! Join us!
Good Afternoon! Last evening the school board voted unanimously to follow the Maine CDC and DOE guidelines for masking in schools. Starting WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9th, masks will be OPTIONAL inside our school buildings. I would also ask that since we are still not using the water fountains and are running out of cups, to please consider sending your child with their own water bottle. (Please put their name on it.) I would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation over the past two years. This first step does prove there IS light at the end of the tunnel! Take GOOD care!
**Please note our PK students will need to continue to mask, as they are operated by a Head Start agency that must continue to follow a federal mandate to mask.**
It's Dr. Seuss Week!
Monday - Wear Green!
Tuesday - Wear crazy socks!
Wednesday - Wear mismatched or inside-out clothes!

Welcome back! Happy New Year to all!
Good Afternoon! Please check your child's bag today, as we have sent home the permission forms for the COVID vaccine. The first dose will be given on Thursday, December 16th. The second dose will be given on Thursday, January 6th. If you would like your child to be vaccinated, please fill out the form and return it to school as soon as possible. On another note, Friday, December 3rd, will be "Camouflage Day!" The students are looking forward to "disappearing" for a day! Finally, enjoy the holiday and we will see you on Monday! Take GOOD care!

Dear Families and Friends of Clinton Elementary:
If you haven’t already noticed, we have been extremely busy again here at Clinton Elementary. The first item on the list was parent teacher conferences. What a wonderful opportunity to get to know our families a bit better and discuss the accomplishments of your children! All of our students took the fall NWEA in reading and math to see how they are performing academically at this time. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised overall with their scores as they appear to be “holding their own” even after the disjointed year we had last year. We are forging ahead this year and are excited we get to work each and every day with your children.
October also brought with it the celebration of Bus Safety Week. Our bus drivers joined us for a presentation around bus safety. The students and staff became well informed on this topic, and we would like to thank our transportation department for organizing this and to our bus drivers here at Clinton Elementary for keeping us all safe. It was also Fire Safety month and we would like to thank the Clinton Fire Department for presenting to our Kindergarten students who took a trip over to the station last week.
Finally, with Thanksgiving fast approaching at the end of the month, it’s difficult to believe we are already moving into the holiday season. This causes me to pause just a moment and reflect on all the things I am thankful for at this time of year. Although I am not a “fan” of the winter approaching, I am brightened by the fall colors and the changing of the trees. I am reminded that we all have something to give, even if in a small way, to our children in the community. I am encouraged by the family feel I experience each and every day working with the staff and students here at Clinton Elementary. In addition, I am so thankful to have found such a caring, energetic, professional staff to work with. It is a pleasure to walk through the doors of this school every day. Thank you for your continued support of your children’s education. Please know it is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Catherine M. Gordon
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 29TH, IS AN EARLY RELEASE DAY FOR OUR DISTRICT. CLINTON ELEMENTARY WILL BE DISMISSING AT 11:50 FOR THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE PICKED UP AND BUS STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED AT NOON. ALL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE LUNCH. IT IS ALSO CRAZY HAIR DAY! SHOW US WHAT YOU GOT!
Good Afternoon Clinton Elementary! There is no school tomorrow and no school on Monday. Thanks to those of you who have recently joined our pool testing. We have 58% of our total population now participating! (140 students and 36 staff members). I hope you are able to take the time to enjoy the nice, long weekend with your family and friends. Leaves are changing and fall is in the air for sure! Take good care and BE WELL!!
Hello Clinton! If your child is currently in quarantine, their teacher should have reached out to you with directions for work expectations. Students in K-2 will be doing some packet work and students in grades 3-6 will have their work in google classroom. On another note, all of the students have done a fantastic job starting to sell items for our fund raiser. I want to thank all of you for helping them with this process. These funds go right back to the students in the form of programming and other celebrations, including when they reach their monthly BARK point goal. Take care and BE WELL!!
Hello Clinton Families! I am sure you have received Superintendent Hersom's message today urging you to sign your child(ren) up for pooled testing. We have started this at Clinton Elementary and have 100 combined staff and students, including myself, participating at this time. Nurse Barton conducted our first test last Tuesday, September 14th, and everyone in the pool tested negative. Participation in pooled testing will exempt your child from quarantine and is also a strong mitigation strategy to prevent further illness in our school. For these reasons, I urge you to consider pooled testing. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the school and speak with Nurse Barton. Thank you for your consideration in this important safety matter.
Good Afternoon Clinton! Please note the following change in pick-up times. The bus schedule has been solidified a bit more and are picking our students up at 3:05. We are going to switch parent pick-up time to 2:50 so the students are here a bit longer and leave right before our bus students are dismissed. Also, please DO NOT park on the road. We have spaces along the front of the school for K-2 pick-up and a lot on the side of the gym for 3-6 pick-up. Thank you for your attention to this very important safety matter. Have a fantastic weekend! Take care and BE WELL!!
Hello Clinton Families!
We have had a successful first week of school! It has been wonderful to see all of the students back here together. Please take a moment to fill out the needs assessment under the "News" section of our website. Thanks, take care and BE WELL!!
Good Afternoon Clinton! Thanks to everyone who donated to the animal shelter. We collected 94 items for our furry friends! Just a reminder that Tuesday, June 1st, is a BLUE day for students. Don't forget to complete the survey on the district website that asks about participating in pooled testing. This is very important as we work toward bringing everyone together, IN PERSON in the fall! Thanks in advance for your attention to this important matter. Enjoy the long holiday weekend! Take care, stay safe, and BE WELL!
